Things are not getting better in Japan.
As a nuclear expert said recently, the “reactors are almost in the same situation they were in the early days of the accident”:

2011-07-18 First Fukushima Free Non-Radioactive Rain Fall- Tropical Storm Bret (video) at Indian River Country uploaded by Potrblog on 2011-08-11. Conclusions stated at the end of this video:
The overall data from the 4000 mile road trip indicates that:
1) The radioactivity in the rainfall decreases the further one moves away from the jet stream
2) The radioactivity in the rainfall goes to ZERO for storms originating from Africa traveling westward to the U.S. (tropical storms, etc.)
3) Storms blowing in from West (Fukushima) to East via the jetstream are radioactive at levels greater than pre-Fukushima.
Storms originating from Africa currently have little radiation.

"Yes the headline says it all. I've been tracking the jet stream and now Fort Calhoun and the fire in New Mexico. All of these events are leading to radiation releases. Luckily they have not converged so far so that people getting the jet stream conveyed Fukushima radiation are not getting anything else since the jet stream has been so far north of the other 2 disasters most of the time.
The big question is how are all of these multiple disasters going to be contained? Additionally, I fear the health consequences of months of elevated levels of exposure to ionizing radiation
